Respite Care

AvidCare’s Respite Care service supports the participant and the carer by giving them both a break, even for a short period of time. We believe in promoting life balance, this service can help give both parties the time and space to do things independently. For the participant, Respite Care can give you a boost of encouragement and a welcome change of routine.

For the support carer, this service can give you a chance to restore your energy and avoid burnout. Caring for a loved one 24/7 can be physically and emotionally exhausting. It can also be difficult to keep up with your own commitments while you are focused on providing the best care you can.

Even the most dedicated carers need a break sometimes to avoid burning out. By taking some time to care for yourself, you can continue to take great care of your loved one, too. Whether you need a short break to recharge your batteries, more regular support, or that short holiday you have been putting off, in-home respite care offers a great solution.

Specialist Behaviour Support Service

Some people in care exhibit behaviours that concern their family, friends or support workers. This behaviour may cause physical or emotional harm or limit their ability to engage fully with the community.

Our Specialist Behaviour Support Service creates individualised strategies that are responsive to the person’s needs, in a way that reduces the occurrence and impact of behaviours of concern and improves wellbeing and quality of life.

We specialise in providing intensive supports to people with complex behaviours related to mental health and disability and who have had a previous history with, or are at risk of, entering into the justice system.

Within NDIS plans our Specialist Behaviour Support Service provides:

Improved Relationships

  • Behaviour support interventions and recommendations
  • Working with people to reduce harmful behaviour and eliminate the use of restrictive practices
  • Individual social skills development

Improved Daily Living

  • Training, coaching and mentoring of staff, carers and parents
  • Providing training and advice in regard to restrictive practices
  • Individual counselling.

Our Specialist Behaviour Support Service clinicians have extensive experience and training in contemporary behaviour support practices and helping people with a range of disabilities, ageing and mental health conditions.
